Why you NEED to identify your Ideal Client
Back when I first started Advantage Virtual Assistants, I can admit it didn’t always go to plan.
Like most new business owners I made mistakes and it took a few bumps in the road to get to where I am today.
I learnt the hard way how to build a successful business and now I’m here to share the lessons I learnt from all those mistakes – so you don’t have to go through the same thing!
One of the biggest lessons being the importance of figuring out my ideal client.
Despite fearing that focusing my marketing towards a specific ICA would mean I’d alienate potential clients… I found out it actually has the opposite effect!
Once you know who you’re speaking to, you can focus your marketing to suit and create a more effective strategy – which only helps your business to grow faster!
If you’re struggling to work out who your ideal client is, here are some good places to start:
Who is your ideal client? Give them a name, age, location etc.
Identifying these physical aspects allows you to visualise them and better understand their point of view.
What does your ideal client do?
It’s important to know their business and day-to-day tasks… otherwise how else will you know the best ways to support them?
Where will you find them?
This is crucial. There’s no point focussing all your efforts on Instagram if all your dream clients are hanging out on LinkedIn.
What do they need?
Recognising their issues allows you to not only offer the relevant services, but means you can create content that will directly address these needs.
What can you do for them?
Once you identify their issues, you need to look at how YOU can help your ideal client solve them… and then use this in your marketing!
Figuring out your ideal client is an important part of the process for all new businesses, as despite how much you might want to, trying to market your business to serve everybody just isn’t going to work.
Even if you’ve already identified them, don’t forget that things change, and your business has evolved… is your ICA still relevant?
We go into your ideal client in detail as part of The VA Mentor Programme and regularly discuss this in The VA Mentor Membership. If you are keen to grow your VA business then maybe we should talk? You can find the link to my diary and to book a call HERE.
